Titanic Coal Memorabilia
Buying a piece of memorabilia made of Titanic coal may seem like an odd thing to do. It isn't, really. The coal on sale has been taken exclusively from the debris field surrounding the Titanic wreck. In fact, it is likely to be as close as you ever get to owing something that was aboard the Titanic in any way, shape or form. Most other memorabilia such as china and crystal is reproductions based on the detailed records available to us, which is great but not the same and not as close.
The coal gathered from the Atlantic floor was all individually recorded, numbered with the dive and the master aboard, which forms the certificate of authenticity that you must get along with the coal. Make sure your auction states that it has this certificate and if you are in doubt ask the auctioneer to see a copy of it before buying. The reason the coal was taken from the floor was to help finance the expedition and also to help finance a permanent museum for the Titanic's artefacts. This is a great reason, in itself to buy.
This listings change here often, and they vary from glass encased pieces of coal, to more elaborate designs, and even jewlery! You are sure to find what you want.
